TITLE: Ultralife Introduces "Smart" SMBus Compliant UBBL10 Battery
RELEASE DATE: 10/08/2007
CONTENT:
Newest member of SmartCircuit™ family of batteries and chargers provides functionality and performance not available from traditional products

WASHINGTON, D.C. - October 8, 2007 -- Ultralife (NASDAQ: ULBI), a global provider of high-energy power solutions, communications accessories and engineering and technical services for diverse applications, today introduced the SMBus-compliant UBBL10 battery at the AUSA trade show in Washington, D.C. The UBBL10 is part of the SmartCircuitTM family of batteries and chargers, which provide advanced solutions to military customers who require functionality and performance not available from traditional products.

The UBBL10 battery (NSN: 6140-01-554-2347) is a new SmartCircuit version of the company’s popular, industry-leading UBI-2590 battery (NSN 6140-01-553-3527), which is used in military and government applications worldwide. Both batteries meet all military performance and safety standards.

While fully compliant with the open source SMBus protocol, Ultralife's UBBL10 battery and others in the SmartCircuit family are superior to competitors’ SMBus offerings because they are designed with circuitry that allows for the most efficient operation of the battery; use flex circuit boards whenever possible to reduce the use of wire, resulting in more robust internal construction and allowing for rugged use; and are thoroughly tested to meet the most stringent performance, reliability and safety standards.

Batteries and chargers with SmartCircuit technology are able to provide, communicate and display information that has a direct and positive result on battery life, application run time, safety, and more.

"Ultralife has extensive expertise in designing batteries, battery packs, and charging systems, with custom circuitry and packaging that enables us to provide solutions specific to each customer's requirements," said Mark Matthews, vice president, Government and Defense Sales. "The UBBL10 will benefit our military customers because it provides additional information to soldiers on the battlefield that could be critical to their mission success, as well as data that may need to be communicated to headquarters for logistics purposes."

Products in the SmartCircuit family provide information such as but not limited to: voltage, temperature, current, state-of-charge, remaining capacity, full charge capacity, run time to empty, remaining capacity alarm, remaining time alarm, charging current, charging voltage, battery status, manufacturer, serial number, device name, and device chemistry.

The following SmartCircuit products are available immediately: batteries: UBBL03, 06, 09, 10 and 12; and chargers: CH0006, 07, 08 and 12.
